|NewsletterComponent distributors in the UK have had a steady June with business up on a year ago while being similar to the previous month.
According to the latest figures from industry body Afdec, total average daily bookings in June were flat when compared to the previous month but showed a 30% increase when compared to the same month last year.
But bookings for semiconductors were 11.4% up on May, while electromechanicals declined by 15%.
The overall Book-to-Bill ratio in June declined slightly to 1.003:1, just positive of parity.
According to Afdec chairman Adam Fletcher, there is a suspicion that the overall rate of growth in the UK electronic components market may be slowing, “especially as we move into the generally quieter summer period”.
The impact of the RoHS Directive on the statistics of Afdec members will not be known until later this year. “The good news is that industry fears about a “RoHS meltdown” have been overcome by collaboration between manufacturers and their franchised distribution partners,” said Fletcher.
