Zytronic has seen its touch sensor technology selected by Coca-Cola to be incorporated into its Freestyle self-serve fountain dispenser.
The dispenser has been nearly four years in development.
It will incorporate the UK-based firm's a Zybrid customised touch sensor, which uses a patented projected capacitive technology.
This technology is made up of a matrix of small capacitors, which are embedded within a pure glass panel. The dispenser will display information via a 15.1 inch touch screen.
A feature of the sensors is that they will work through an overlay material allowing for a design without the need for a display bezel.
"The self-service restaurant environment in which Coca-Cola Freestyle will be used demands an extremely reliable touchscreen. Zytronic is able to provide accurate touch-enabled functionality that is not impeded by the overlying moulded front fascia," said Mark Cambridge, chief executive of Zytronic.

The self-serve fountains are a completely new design for Coca-Cola and are touch screen operated and will allow users to select from more than 100 calorie and no-calorie brands.
Coca-Cola is testing the dispensers at restaurants in Georgia and California this summer, before a wider introduction currently planned for early next year.
