Fairchild Semiconductor has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Infineon Technologies. The patent claim is related to certain Infineon CoolMOS and OptiMOS branded products, as well as other Infineon IGBT and CanPAK products.

The claims against Infineon in the US District Court for the District of Maine and the US District Court for the District of Delaware follow a period of cross-license negotiations between the copmpanies.

"We are very confident in our position in this ongoing patent dispute and will fight to protect our intellectual property," said Justin Chiang, Fairchild's senior v-p and general manager for power conversion, industrial and automotive products.
