Essex-based distributor Glyn has been the subject of a management buyout from its German parent company.
Under its new name of First Byte Micro, the company will operate as a franchised semiconductor and has agreements with Micronas, NEC, Seiko Instruments and Sony.
However, the distributor, which specialises in MCU, FPGA, PLD, memory and display products, will also carry non-franchised lines.
Some of the lines being stocked include Altera, Atmel, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Microchip, Mitsubishi, OKI, PLX, Renesas, STMicroelectronics, Toshiba and Xilinx.
The company is headed up by Steve Rutter, Peter Greenslade and Joe Grundy.
“Our intention is simply to get the best deal for our customers and because we are totally independent, we don’t need to meet corporate margins,” said Rutter.
