Kontron has announced a range of single-width AdvancedMC processor modules based around the Freescale Semiconductor QorIQ communication processor.

The QorIQ P2020 based Kontron AdvancedMC processor module AM4120 is scheduled for release in Q2 2011.

There are also plans to use the scalable QorIQ processors on MicroTCA and AdvancedTCA platforms.

“With up to eight cores, the QorIQ processors can be configured to meet many system application needs,” said Dirk Finstel, CTO at Kontron.

“Comprehensive virtualization capabilities, as well as the ability to independently boot and reset each core, provides the user with significant flexibility in partitioning between control, datapath and application processing,” said Finstel.

Samples of the Kontron AdvancedMC processor module AM4120 will be available in Q2 2011.

Full production is scheduled for Q3 2011. Additional Freescale-based AdvancedMCs will be available in Q4 2011.
