Microsemi buys AML Comms

Microsemi has completed its acquisition of AML Communications.

US-based AML Communications is a manufacturer of assemblies for the defence industry.

Its customers include Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, L-3 Communications, and BAE Systems.

The acquisition will be used to support Microsemi’s existing RF component business.

"We are pleased to move forward with AML's contribution to the Microsemi family," said James Peterson, Microsemi president and CEO.

"RF components are increasingly important in today's defense programs and unmanned aerial vehicle systems and this acquisition brings scale and complementary technology to Microsemi's fast-growing RF component and subsystems product offering,” said Peterson.

As a reminder, in its fiscal second quarter earnings conference call, the company forecast sequential revenue growth on the order of 3%-5%, excluding the effect of any pending acquisition.

Last year Microsemi acquired FPGA supplier Actel, as part of a move into the wider system-on-chip market.
