Acal has appointed Paul Webster as UK managing director for its Acal Technology and BFi OPTiLAS distribution businesses.
Webster joins Acal from Electrocomponents where he was responsible for the implementation of electronics strategy throughout Europe and APAC and the introduction of over 60000 new products to their range.
His long career includes spells at Avnet, Macro Group and ITT Electronic Services.
“Component distribution faced enormous challenges during 2009 and, through the recovery, will need to continue to offer customers tangible and realisable benefits at every level of their business,” commented Webster.
Webster has committed himself to further investment in the distributor’s technical and manufacturing support services.
“This will include further development of our services offer for connector assembly, fibre-optic cable assembly and production-ready modules to enable customers to implement emerging technologies with minimum risk and reduced time to market,” said Webster.
“Tracking and evaluating emerging product trends and technologies is a crucial element of our strategy,” added Webster.
