Dialog Semiconductor has bought power management semiconductor technology and a Germany-based design team from Diodes Zetex.
The deal gives Dialog semiconductor intellectual property for integrated power management function. It also gets a design team located in Munich.
According to Dr. Jalal Bagherli, CEO at Dialog, the IP will provide user interface and battery power control functions as used in smartphones, netbooks and other portable media devices.
Dialog has recently scored a design win in the GW880 smartphone from LG for its power management and audio technology.
The smartphone incorporates the DA9035 power management IC and audio/voice codec.
The chip integrates a 24-bit audio processor, touch screen controller, LED/vibrator driver and system-level power management functionality for 3G cellular platforms.
This is the latest in a series of LG design wins for Dialog over the past 12 months.
The commercial terms of the Diodes Zetex transaction have not been disclosed.
