Manufacturer United EMS has won a £3m contract in competition with Chinese firms, which will see high-volume manufacturing coming back to the UK.
The contract will be supported by distributor Anglia Components which has signed a component supply agreement valued at more than £1m with United EMS.
“This really is a great story for the UK electronics industry and something we should all be proud of as stakeholders in that industry," said Tony McFadden, director and co-owner of United EMS.
"Working in partnership with a UK distributor, and by using an innovative approach to the business, we have managed to beat Asian competition and bring a major manufacturing contract back to the UK to continue the phenomenal sales growth we are experiencing," said McFadden.
“Anglia created a supply chain solution that allowed us both to win,” McFadden.
United EMS recently announced a partnership with Cinterion, the machine-to-machine (M2M) communication module firm.
