Domain Dynamics (DDL), the Reading speech and voice recognition specialist, has been placed into administration and the technology transferred to a new company under the stewardship of former DDL general manager Ian Anderton.
Equivox, which has taken on the Smart Voice speech/voice recognition part of DDL’s business, plans to offer speech recognition and voice authentication for wireless devices. It will build on VOXit Mailer, a voice activated application giving hands-free control of email that has already been ported to HP’s iPaq handheld computer.
“Key players, from wireless device OEMs and wireless application developers, to providers of biometric security have strongly welcomed the repositioning of our business exclusively around voice solutions,” said Anderton.
Equivox recently received an award from Intel for an implementation of VOXit Mailer designed for the Intel Personal Internet Client Architecture used in an XScale-powered smartphone from Chinese firm MiTAC.
