Among a host of new initiatives, National Electronics Week 2009 will feature a showcase of Richard Noble's Bloodhound Project - a supersonic contender for the land speed record. Over June 16th - 18th at Earls Court 2, the event's value-packed line-up will include the supersonic speedster. Electronics Weekly Live is also part of the event. See Electronics Weekly Live
NEW 2009 will be a celebration of the UK's vibrant electronics industry, offering companies a cost efficient platform to show world class technologies and innovation. As part of this, Bloodhound SSC (Supersonic Car) will be the catalyst for a raft of cutting-edge research in fields such as aerodynamics, computational fluid dynamics, materials technology, composite manufacturing and electronics.
In another must-see attraction, Richard Noble will be on hand to take questions from visitors and exhibitors, who will be invited to attend his exclusive presentation on The Bloodhound Project and the innovation behind its electronics systems.
NEW will also be host to a selection of international pavilions to enhance the total visitor experience, and will incorporate dedicated areas for an even wider range of market sectors including:
- Embedded
- Components
- Solar & Green Design
- Wireless,
- EMS
- Test & Measurement
- Design & Development
- Production & Assembly
- Photonics
- Laser Technology
Featuring innovative exhibits from the industry's leading players and a wide variety of educational seminars and workshops, the new colour-coded sectors have been devised to ensure that all NEW exhibitors and visitors get maximum value from the show, as Event Director Claire Jeffreys explains:
"Last year, we established NEW as the only viable professional UK event serving the needs of all electronics sectors. This year, we're taking it a step further, not only consolidating our status industry-wide but developing it to prove that NEW delivers the best value, the best exhibits, the best networking forum and the best educational opportunities around."
"We know that the UK electronics industry has so much to be proud of, and we want to celebrate this. That's why we've extended our commitment to discovery and learning for example, hosting a range of technical seminars and workshops from leading industry organisations such as Premier EDA and Advanced Rework Technologies. And perhaps no-where is our commitment to inspiring innovation, technology and education more apparent than in the display of the new British technology driving the latest bid for the land speed record!"
The latest effort Bloodhound SSC effort was instigated by Science Minister Lord Drayson who believes it will inspire today's younger generation to learn more about technology.
The project is being led by Richard Noble who previously broke the land speed record in the Thrust 2 jetcar, while Bloodhound SSC is being driven by RAF pilot Andy Green. Looking set to provide one of NEW 2009's most popular attractions, the Bloodhound team is bringing a model of the car to the show, along with one of its EJ200 jet engines and exciting video footage of the supersonic car in action.
By showcasing these areas in the most exciting way possible, The Bloodhound Project also aims to inspire future generations to take up careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and the Project includes an accompanying education programme involving the Royal Academy of Engineering and The IET and more leading science organisations.
