Sales growth in the UK distribution market seems to be moderating, according to the latest figures from industry body Afdec.
There was a small increase in billings in August compared to the previous month. But according to Electronic Components Supply Network chairman Adam Fletcher bookings growth in the semiconductor and passives product group is beginning to slow.
“The decline in the book-to-bill ratio below unity in August ‘10 returned by our connectors and electro-mechanical reporting groups suggest the process has already started,” said Fletcher.
According to figures published this week by WSTS, global semiconductor sales grew 1.8% in August compared with July.
But the European market showed signs of weakening with a decline of 0.6%.
According to Afdec, total billings in August increased by 0.2% compared to previous month.
But they are still 31.3% up on the same month last year.
Semiconductor billings were up 42% year-on-year and passives were up 21.2%.
The book-to-bill ratio in August declined by 9 points to 1.08:1 with continued strong but slowing bookings growth in the semiconductors and passive components product groups.
