VCX goes to Beach

Friday 05 November 2004 14:12

System level EDA firm Beach Solutions has acquired VCX Software, the Scottish semiconductor intellectual property (IP) management company.

"This acquisition is in response to Beach's customer requests to add better design management capabilities for today's most complex SoCs and their derivatives," said Doug McCafferty, president and CEO at Beach.

"VCX's database technology is one of the best kept secrets in the industry," he added.

Jim Ensell of the fabless semiconductor association said: "VCX Software has in its many guises, been a real contributor towards the creation of a higher quality IP supply-chain."

Beach will continue to run its IP portal at www.thevcx.com, said Andy Travers, president and CEO of VCX. It will operate as a separate business unit of Beach.

Beach's EASI Studio tools captuer information about a chip design, then generate the interfaces, documentation and verification environment for the IP blocks in the design.
