European chip sales in October were 1.6% down on September but are 1.2% up on a y-t-d basis over the first ten months of 2010, reports WSTS.
Good results were reported among others for the MOS microprocessor and the total flash memory and total MOS memory product categories.
While sales into consumer, automotive and wireless communication applications increased over September, sales into IC card and wired communication applications decreased.
Overall, European semiconductor sales in October 2011 amounted to $3.082bn.
Measured in Euro, semiconductor sales were €2.212bn in October, down 0.3% on September and down 12.2% against Oct 2010.
On a worldwide basis, semiconductor sales in October 2011 were $25.736bn, down 0.1% on September and down 1.8% on October 2010.
