Texas Instruments has introduced a 15mW audio codec with stereo headphone amplifier and mono Class-D speaker driver.

The TLV320AIC3107 amplifier substantially reduces board area, and cost by 20 per cent, when compared to discrete solutions," claimed the firm.

The codec has a stereo 8 - 96ksample/s DAC with 97dB signal-to-noise ratio and 8-96ksample/s ADC with 92dB SNR. 15mW consumption comes at 48kHz with a 3.3V analogue supply.

The Class-D amplifier can deliver 1W into 8Ω.

It is available now in a 5x5mm QFN-40 package, with a 3.5x3mm WCSP package to follow early in 2009, and there is an evaluation module.
