Microsemi has collaborated with Trinamic on the design of a motor control kit.
The design platform is built around microsemi's SmartFusion FPGA evaluation kit and Germany-based Trinamic's motor control daughter board kit.
The SmartFusion evaluation kit features an A2F200M3F-FGG484ES device, with 200,000 system FPGA gates, 256kbyte flash memory, 64kbyte SRAM, and additional distributed SRAM in the FPGA fabric and external memory controller.
Peripherals include Ethernet, DMAs, I2Cs, UARTs, timers, ADCs, DACs and SPI-flash memory connected to SPI_0 on the device.
There is a USB connection for programming and debug and a USB to UART connection to UART_0 for HyperTerminal examples. A 10/100 Ethernet interface with on-chip MAC and external PHY is also present.
The motor control daughter card features parallel operation of BLDC & stepper motor (requires two power supplies), a Hall sensor interface, ABN encoder interface and independent voltage supplies for stepper and BLDC block.
The full motor control kit also includes a stepper motor with 1.8° step angle, a brushless DC motor with Hall sensors and a portable desktop power supply (24V/1A) with international plugs.
The price for the bundled motor control kit is $549.
