CEVA, the developer of mobile processor intellectual property (IP), has introduced optimised HSPA+ software libraries for its CEVA-XC software-defined radio (SDR) reference architecture.
CEVA-XC is a processor core for integrating into to system-in-chip (SoC) mobile silicon capable of implementing software defined radio multimode mobile designs
The software will support the implementation of software-based multimode HSPA/HSPA+/LTE/LTE-A handset designs.
The importance of this is that will enable 4G LTE developers to design multimode systems with the necessary backward compatibility with 3G for mobile applications.
Intel is a licensee of the CEVA-XC communications processor IP for use in mobile phone baseband chipsets, as part of Intel's plans for developing mobile phone platforms.
CEVA’s HSPA+ software libraries support up to HSPA+ 3GPP Rel-8 worst case conditions including MIMO and 64QAM and enable peak downlink data rates of 42Mbit/s on a single CEVA-XC processor.
The libraries address the receiver elements including: channel estimation, equalization, de-mapping, de-interleaving, de-rate matching, and more.
“Together with our communications and LTE software libraries, we offer the industry’s most comprehensive SDR architecture for 3G/4G modem design,” said Eran Briman, v-p of marketing at CEVA.
