Picochip, has launched its next generation of femtocell base station chips: PC3024 for enterprise use and the PC3032 for metro and rural cells.
Fabbed by TSMC, the devices are made on a 40nm process and include a 1GHz ARM11 processor plus Picochip's existing PHY and software.
"They offer industry's best security, significantly exceeding 3GPP TR 33.820 with ARM TrustZone, 4,096 bits of security keys, secure boot and are the first femtocells to support SNOW3G, the enhanced cryptography standard in 3GPP," said Picochip.
PC3032, and the firm's existing PC333, support 32 users with HSPA+ and are claimed to be the only small cell SoCs to meet the 3GPP Local Area Basestation (LABS) performance standard.
It also supports Release 9, dual-carrier and MIMO with potential speeds of 42Mbit/s downlink.
PC3024 is a 24 user device for enterprise applications.
Both new chips will sample in Q1 next year.
