Samsung will unveil its new range of plasma HDTVs at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.

The Series 4 and 5 models harness the technology created for its Digital Light Processing HDTVs, and Samsung claims it has designed the first 3D ready, flat-panel HDTVs in the marketplace with the Series 4 plasma HDTV.

“By integrating 3D technology into the plasma category, we’re offering consumers the benefits of both a flat-panel set and 3D movie viewing and gaming. We’re looking forward to continuing to expand our new technologies across all of our HDTV categories,” said Jonas Tanenbaum, vice president of Flat Panel Marketing at Samsung Electronics America.

Built-in entertainment modes automatically adjust image and audio quality to the content being viewed. FilterBright anti-glare technology produces an increased contrast ratio to overall picture quality.

Three HDMI inputs are built in to the HDTVs and a USB 2.0 port is included for the 5 series.

The Series 4 uses a software algorithm to eliminate dither noise and false contour lines to reproduce clear images. Multimedia capability comes through 3 HDMI.

The Series 4 will be available in March in both 42-in and 50-in model sizes. Model numbers are PN42A450P and PN50A450P.

Including the Series 4 technology with the additional USB port, the Series 5 will be available in March in both 50-in and 58-in with the model numbers PN50A550P and PN58A550P.
