Companies from the UK’s embedded system design community met in Farnborough this week at the ESC UK conference and exhibition.
As a representative from embedded software company Green Hills Software pointed out: “The success of an event such as this is important for the embedded community in this country.”
“A conference with internationally recognised speakers alongside the exhibition is a model we have used successfully for ESC in the US and I am confident the model will work over here,” said David Blaza, v-p events for TechInsights, organiser of ESC UK.
“We know there is strong design activity in the UK, look at the development teams at BAE Systems and Nokia just down the road, here in Farnborough, for example, and that’s why we are here,” said another exhibitor.
The mood on the exhibition floor was perceptibly more upbeat than last year’s event which took place as the industry was stumbling in to recession.
With over 60 companies exhibiting this year there was an expectation that visitor numbers would be better than a year ago.
Arrow, Agilent Technologies, Green Hills Software, National Instruments, NXP and Tektronix were amongst the exhibitors.
“Pre-registrations for the event were 10% ahead of last year,” said Andrew Porter from TechInsights.
According to Porter, more than 100 delegates have registered for this year’s conference.
