Filtronic reports steady figures as bidder withdraws

Filtronic has reported strong trading in the first half of the year, but warned of a weaker second half.

“In the second half year, however, the well documented slowdown in capital investment in the telecom infrastructure market is expected to result in a weaker trading performance,” said Filtronic.

This trading update follows the lifting of restrictions imposed while the company was the target of private-equity company Carlyle Group.

Carlyle has withdrawn its interest in the Filtronic, which now comprises largely of a microwave component business.

The defence electronics business, which is based in Shipley, Yorkshire, manufactures customised RF, microwave and millimetre wave components and subsystems.

In August, Filtronic agreed to sell its defence electronics business to Teledyne, a subsidiary of US-based Teledyne Technologies, for £13m.

Filtronic’s cash resources stand at around £15m.
