Ericsson has introduced a verified one-chip HSPA design platform which it said will support a number of major open operating systems.

It is the result of an open OS collaboration with Texas Instruments and Ericsson has integrated its HSPA modem with TI’s OMAP3430 applications processor in one chip.

According to Robert Puskaric, head of Ericsson’s mobile platforms business: “This is truly a next generation platform for the rapidly growing Open OS market.”

The aim is to support all major open operating systems with a pre-verified and tested platform. The U380 platform is expected to be commercially available in the first half of 2009.
