Texas Instruments has combined transceivers for WLAN 802.11n, GPS, FM transmit/receive and Bluetooth on one device.
The 65nm chip called WiLink 7.0 supports both Bluetooth low-energy and Bluetooth 3.0 specifications, and there is an audio processor on chip.
Wi-Fi support includes 802.11 a/b/g/n capabilities.
For GPS functions there is a multi-path resolution engine along with algorithms to reduce interference in cities.
"We are the first company to put the power of GPS, WLAN, Bluetooth and FM technologies on a single chip," said Haviv Ilan, vice president and general manager, wireless connectivity solutions, TI.
The WiLink 7.0 device is sampling to major OEMs and first devices using the chip are expected to enter the market by the end of 2010.
