Semiconductor firm gets boost from £18.3m contract

e2v technologies has secured a contract renewal worth £18.3m.

The Essex-based manufacturer will supply products from its electron device and sub-systems division, for incorporation into linear accelerators for radiotherapy cancer treatment machines, to an existing customer.

“This contract renewal helps underpin trading performance for the current year and beyond, reinforcing our strong position in this market,” said Keith Attwood, chief executive of e2v.

In October 2008 e2v established its first US manufacturing base when it acquired QP Semiconductor, a supplier of semiconductors used in military and aerospace applications.

For the year ended 31 March 2008, e2v achieved sales of £205m

The electron devices generate and deliver the microwave power required by radiotherapy cancer treatment machines to produce the X-rays used in the imaging and radiation treatment of tumours.

Deliveries will commence immediately and be completed over a 3 year period.
