Meeting the need for speed - Eliminating inter-processor communication bottlenecks in high-end handset applications

To address the ever-increasing processing requirements of today's high-end multimedia handsets, many designers have turned to multi-processor architectures featuring stand-alone applications processors.

In early multi-processor designs, the embedded interfaces available on the processors were used as a means of inter-processor communication, but these interfaces have begun to create bottlenecks as wireless data transmission rates continue to increase and the applications they support become more complex.

Multi-port memory devices address this issue by supporting unmatched inter-processor communication rates while consuming very little power and board space.

Taught by Casey Springer, IDT Product Marketing Engineer, this NetSeminar highlights the advantages of using multi-port devices in advanced handset applications.
