Diodes, the US-based discrete and analogue semiconductor supplier, has completed its $176m acquisition of Zetex, the UK-based semiconductor manufacturer.

The deal gives the Dallas-based company combined revenues of $528m, at 2007 figures. IT also giooves Diodes new access to the European industrial and automotive electronics markets.

"We look forward to achieving continued growth and capitalizing on the new business opportunities and geographic expansion resulting from this acquisition,” said Dr. Keh-Shew Lu, Diodes’ president and CEO.

The company also emphasised the strategic importance of Zetex's UK-based wafer fabrication facility. "Complementary wafer processing and packaging technologies will result in expanded capabilities and capacity," said Diodes. The company already has manufacturing in the US, China and Hong Kong.

The transaction will close under the previously released terms by which each Zetex shareholder will receive 85.45 pence in cash per Zetex ordinary share, valuing the fully diluted share capital of Zetex at approximately $176m.

Diodes’ products include diodes, rectifiers, transistors, Mosfets, protection devices, functional specific arrays, power management devices including DC-DC switching and linear voltage regulators, amplifiers and comparators, and Hall-effect sensors.
