Chip routing specialist Pulsic is making its software available to the technology incubation centres set up by SETsquared in the UK.
"I am delighted with Pulsic's support for my clients. The very early stages are particularly challenging for IC design start-ups and this kind of help reduces risk and stimulates growth in the sector," said Simon Bond, director of SETsquared's business acceleration centres in Bath & Swindon.
Bristol-based Pulsic said its software is capable of supporting firms using processes down to 65nm.
“The collaboration between SETsquared and Pulsic will help to stimulate the world class semiconductor design arena, for which the South West is already well known, and will enable us to help influence future developments," said Ken Roberts, chief executive at Pulsic.
Pulsic's tool, called Lyric, is a shape-based router aimed at digital, analogue or mixed signal chip designs.
Over the past three years, some 170 companies have benefited from the SETsquared initiative, a collaboration of the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Southampton and Surrey.
