Birmingham's National Motorcycle Museum is the venue for the third annual international solid-state lighting conference and exhibition, euroLED 2006.

Held from May 16 to May 18, the event aims to unite leading experts from the LED, electroluminescent and organic LED industries and provide updates and free workshops on the latest technology and specific market sectors.

Day one of the event covers solid state lighting technologies and the market, with speakers from firms such as iSuppli, Cree, Kyocera, Nat Semi and Mesophotonics.

Day two moves on to LED applications, and features presentations from Philips, Oxley, CML and Hella.

The third day of the conference focuses on the DTI Global Watch missions to Japan in November last year and to the US in March 2006. The speakers will describe these two countries' applications of LEDs in areas such as healthcare, lighting, transportation, and optical design.

Four workshops are planned for the event, covering techniques for driving LEDs, a test and measurement course with the catchy title of 'Flux, Nits and Cendelas' and how to avoid mistakes when using LEDs in luminaries.

Readers of electronicsweekly.com will receive a discount on the conference registration rate, with the full three days costing £250.
