Edinburgh-based 3L has added a TCP/IP stack to its Diamond multiprocessor tool-suite, and is to extend suite coverage to embedded PowerPCs on Xilinx FPGAs.
"Optimised for multiprocessing and Gigabit Ethernet, the stack supports the low level TCP, UDP, IP, IGMP, ICMP and ARP stack protocols," said the firm. Dubbed Diamond TCP, "the protocol overhead is light touch at 10%".
The stack actually comes from DFC Design of the Czech Republic .
"Because of the work completed by ourselves and 3L, integration effort is taken away from the designer," said DFC CEO Sobeslav Valach.
It is supplied with configuration utilities for IP addresses and routing tables. Higher level protocols such as SSH, FTP/ Client Server and DHCP will become available.
In the near future 3L is also to expand its Diamond target base. "The major processors we support are C6000 from Texas Instruments and Xilinx FPGAs," Peter Robertson, managing director of 3L, told Electronics Weekly. "We will be coming out fairly shortly with a version for embedded hard PowerPCs on Xilinx FPGAs.
