Artisan Software Tools has acquired Germany-based Extessy, a supplier of development tools for co-simulation, integration and test.
It is the second acqiuisition in a short period for Artisan which last month bought a UK systems engineering consultancy called Brass Bullet.
“This is a significant next step in our ‘complex systems tools market’ consolidation programme,” said James B. Gambrell, President and CEO of Artisan Software Tools.
Attractive to Artisan is Extessy’s position as a supplier to the German automotive market
Extessy, which was founded in 2000, offers software tools and consulting services for embedded system development, and it derives the bulk of its business from the German automotive industry.
The combined companies will significantly expand Artisan’s operations in Germany and Artisan will be move its German headquarters from Munich to Extessy’s Wolfsburg offices, while still retaining a regional presence in Munich.
According to Bill Esler, CEO of Extessy AG: “Extessy will add greatly to the solutions and services Artisan is able to offer to its customers as well as considerably expand the opportunity to continue to grow its market share.”
