Green Hills Software launches faster RTOS

Green Hills Software has announced the latest release of its Integrity real-time operating system.

It is release version 11 of the RTOS and it incorporates an optimised communications mechanism called GIPC, which the company said is five times faster than Linux AF_LOCAL sockets.

"Native Integrity, as well as Linux processes, executing in virtual machines, can take advantage of the super fast GIPC," said Green Hills.

There is support for POSIX APIs and higher-level middleware such as DDS and CORBA.

The RTOS' network stack also includes support for additional RFCs and capabilities, such as ECMP (Equal Cost Multi-Path) routing.

Improvements for ease of use include a streamlined distribution directory structure and simplified configuration for board support packages (BSPs) and device drivers.

When integrated with the firm's Multi 6 integrated development environment, the new RTOS takes advantage of faster build speeds and improvements in code size and speed delivered by the Green Hills compiler.

Integrty 11 includes new resource management middleware, enabling developers to partition system resources across security domains while providing an API for the dynamic allocation of those resources within each domain.
