1.2V LDO drops 80mV at 400mA

Austriamicrosystems has released a low drop-out regulator (LDO) that drops only 80mV when delivering 400mA from 1.2V.

The AS1371 operates from a 1.2 to 3.6V supply with 50µA quiescent current at maximum load. Dropout at 100mA is 20mV.

"Many of the sub-systems in current portable applications such as GPS systems, and Bluetooth, need for peripheral LDOs to work in conjunction with an existing power management IC." said Bruce Ulrich, marketing director at austriamicrosystems.

The chip is available with output voltages between 0.6 and 3.3V in 50mV steps and is stable with ceramic output capacitors down to 1µF.

Output voltage regulation tolerance is ±1%, and over temperature plus over current protection are included, as well as under-voltage lockout, power-OK, low battery detection, an enable pin, and a sense input option. Packaging is a 6pin 2x2mm TDFN and the regulator is qualified for -40 to +85°C operation.
