Antenova buys Finnish antenna firm

Antenova has acquired gigaAnt, the short range antenna business, from Finnish company Perlos.

The UK antenna developer said the deal brings both new products and, perhaps more importantly, a global sales channel for Antenova's existing technology.

"The gigaAnt purchase enables us to give our customers access to a broader range of standard off-the-shelf antennas, which means faster time to market with an already field-proven antenna solution," said Greg McCray, CEO at Antenova.

gigaAnt's antennas are aimed at Bluetooth, WiFi and other short range media. Antenova, on the other hand, is aiming at a wider spread of products, from mobile phones down to Bluetooth.

Earlier this year Antenova won $12m in funding and a contract to supply Motorola with one million of its high dielectric, quad-band antennas.
