Like its digital counterpart, the analogue semiconductor market was flat in 2011 compared to 2010, according to market analysts Databeans. 2011 analogue sales were $42.34; 2010 sales were $42.29bn.

While ST’s market share as No.2 in the analogue market remained broadly flat last year, TI, after its purchase of National, extended its lead as the No.1 player from 14.6% share in 2010 to !5.4% in 2011, according to Databeans.

TI's analogue chip sales grew 5% in 2011, reaching $6.5bn and is ready to exploit renewed demand thanks to extensive acquisition of manufacturing assets.

ST's analogue sales declined 3% in 2011 to $4.2bn, says Databeans, largely because significantly weaker sales at ST- Ericsson.
