Mirifice has signed an agreement with Comstar, Russia’s largest broadband and Internet TV operator, to deliver its MiriMON real-time monitoring system on to the operator's digital TV boxes.
This comes as Mirifice aims to develop its digital TV product line and expand the growth of its international business.
Earlier this month the company named former Amstrad CEO, David Rogers as chairman to drive the company's product development strategy forward.
“I join at a very exciting time for the company. To date, the majority of the revenue has been from consultancy services, but we are now at the stage of releasing new and innovative products which will take us into a whole new arena," said Rogers.
The MiriMON monitoring technology will be the centre-piece of the firm's global business.
"As we have developed so quickly over the last four years, it is great to have David at the helm as we enter the international phase of our business plan," said company CEO Paul Tinkler.
The Bath-based software developer has worked closely with Cambridge-based Amino which supplies the set-top boxes to Comstar.
“We had no hesitation at all in introducing Mirifice to Comstar,” said Gary Hamer, sales director EMEA at Amino.
"We have been working closely with Mirifice for the past two years, and when we knew that Comstar were looking to increase the value of their product," said Hamer.
Amino's key product in this area is the AmiNET series of set-top boxes which support MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 encoding standards, standard and high definition TV, personal video recording and home networking.
According to Victor Belov, CTO of Comstar Direct: “The start of the implementation is a very exciting time for us. We are initially starting with a base of 100,000 IPTV Comstar customers, but we see that number increasing rapidly."
Mirifice is a four year old company which does software development, project management and consultancy to the broadcast industry. Its customers include BSkyB, Virgin Media, Top-Up TV, Comstar Direct, Pace MicroTechnology, Tandberg and Thomson.
