Rohm Semiconductor’s fingerprint authentication module, the MK67Q5250-2510 is as small as a postage stamp (25.4x22.86mm) and implements functions such as fingerprint data registration, authentication, and data management.
Based on OKI Semiconductor’s ML67Q5250 and the AES2510 sensor from AuthenTec, the module is supported by a software development kit (SDK) Version 4 which has been optimised to support AuthenTec’s AES1711 slide sensor.
“This allows for a substantial reduction in standby power, enabling incorporation of fingerprint authentication into battery-powered equipment – for instance network tokens and door locks - without the need for a switch,” said the supplier.
For multi-user authentication systems, the maximum number of fingers registered in the built-in flash memory has been increased from 15 to 45, bidirectional swipe functionality and a firmware update function has been added.
