Component distributor Digi-Key has signed a number of franchise agreement this month, including with Zilog, M-Systems and Optichron.

The deal with Zilog takes Digi-Key's existing US franchise to Europe, Asia and Japan. Zilog's more recent products are based around flash, and include the Z8 Encore  and eZ80Acclaim families of microcontrollers.

Zilog said the extension of the franchise was awarded as a result of Digi-Key's successful expansion into Europe and Asia.

Meanwhile, flash memory firm M-Systems has also given Digi-Key a global franchise for products such as its DiskOnChip and FFD.

"Many design engineers have a Digi-Key catalogue and, with M-Systems inside, it will be a great outlet for us into new designs," said Scott Deutsch, M-Systems’ vice president of sales for the Americas.

Finally, signal processing specialist Optichron is making its analogue-to-digital converter modules available worldwide through Digi-Key. The modules are designed to correct non-linear distortion in high speed ADCs.
