ST-Ericsson expects to continue to make losses for another year with its first expected profit coming in Q2 2012, CEO Giles Delfassy said in Barcelona today.
The company has been making losses ever since it started in business in January 2009 as a combination of NXP’s wireless activity, Ericsson’s wireless platform products and ST’s wireless unit.
ST-Ericsson now expects to break-even when it reaches a sales target of $770m – a figure it has pencilled in as achievable in Q2 2012.
Last year’s sales were $577m for a net loss of $177m. Q1 2011 sales are expected to be less than those of Q4 2010.
