Integrated Device Technology has announced that Acme Packet has chosen an IDT network search engine (NSE) for inclusion in its family of Net-Net session border controllers (SBC).
The IDT75K62213 NSE helps the Net-Net family provide critical service reach, service assurance and security requirements. The SBC aims to deliver interactive voice, video and multimedia communications across IP network borders through its ability to process network address translation and address resolution protocol look-ups.
The IDT NSE allows the session border controllers to seamlessly maintain the performance required for latency sensitive voice and video traffic.
Session border controllers are a growing category of network equipment that provides critical control functions to enable high quality interactive communications—voice, video and multimedia sessions—across IP network borders.
Acme Packet's SBCs support both subscriber access and network interconnect border requirements in wireline, cable and wireless networks.
The IDT NSE works with Acme Packet’s network processor to offload classification and forwarding lookups that provide 256-bits of associated data per look up. This allows more information to be associated per look-up, reducing the number of look-ups needed and improving overall performance.
Additionally, the 75K62213 incorporates database management features that enable significant power savings, said IDT.
