AMD's small form factor PC standard specification, DTX is available as a review copy.

The review copy of the proposed industry guidelines for the DTX specification, which defines a minimum set of parameters necessary for interoperability, is available online at the DTX website

Defining standard mechanical and electrocial interfaces the DTX aims to support the development of energy-efficient, small form factor PCs.

AMD belives there is an opportnutiy for the DTX standard to match the level of success the ATX standard has had in teh desktop market.Intel created the ATX (Advanced Technology Extended) form factor in 1995 and it is now seen as the industry standard for do-it-yourself PC buidlers.

“With the DTX open standard specification, the potential exists for the small form factor market to reap benefits similar to what the ATX standard has done for the desktop market in recent years," said Bob Brewer, corporate v-p, desktop division, AMD.

Companies including Akasa, Albatron, ASUS, Asetek, Compucase, ECS, Founder, FSP, Gigabyte, Hedy, NVIDIA, Shuttle, SilverStone Technology, Thermaltake, and Tongfang have expressed support for DTX, and intend to develop products.
