A letter of intent was signed by Adrian Scrase, ETSI's v-p for International Partnership Projects and Professor Ramjee Prasad, GISFI founding chairman.
Relevant areas for standardisation include convergent technologies, future radio access technologies and what the agencies term green issues.
"The new collaboration between the two organizations is expected to contribute a valuable sharing of expertise in these challenging domains, resulting in relevant, high quality standards for world-wide application," said the standards agencies in a statement.
