Rohm Semiconductor has opened a design centre in Europe based in Willich-Münchheide, Germany.
The design centre will focus on LCD and LED drivers, power management, automotive drivers, EEPROM’s, sensors and ICs general lighting applications.
“The new design centre will significantly expand our scope and by being close to the market will define and maintain the right product roadmap for the future," said Dr. Michael Davis, technical director at Rohm Semiconductor.
One role for the centre will be to provide design-in support. But will also provide access to technologies coming from Rohm's labs in Japan.
Last year Rohm re-organised its semiconductor component activities in Europe.
The Japanese manufacturer is already an established supplier of semiconductors worldwide and it is now looking for double digit growth in Europe in these sectors.
