Microsemi has announced the creation of 315 new jobs over the next 18 months, at its facility in Ennis, Co Clare.
Microsemi is a California-based manufacturer of analogue, mixed-signal ICs and discrete high reliability semiconductors, typically used in oil drilling and aircraft engines.
The expansion, which is being supported by the Irish Government through the IDA Ireland, involves manufacturing, sales and technical support.
Making the announcement, An Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment, Mary Coughlan TD said: "This is excellent news for Ennis and the greater Mid West region and is testament to the depth and quality of the workforce available here."
"This expansion is a clear demonstration of Ireland's premier position as a leading location for premium overseas high tech manufacturing investments," said Coughlan.
"The size and scale of our investment in the Ennis facility is a direct reflection of the calibre and talent of our existing workforce coupled with our faith in the exceptional standard of the high quality recruits available within this region," said James Peterson, president and CEO of Microsemi.
"This is a flagship facility acting as a gateway between the European and US marketplaces for the company," said Peterson.
The company has been actively recruiting, this year to date, and has already employed an additional 115 staff with the remaining 200 expected to be put in place within the next 18 months.
