Vicor has signed a global distribution agreement with Digi-key in its push to grab a bigger share of the global power market.
Signing of online distributor Digi-Key is the next move in the power system firm’s reshaping of its marketing strategy to address a broader base of customers.
“Vicor’s new relationship with Digi-Key represents an important element of our global growth strategy,” said Richard Begen, Vicor’s vice president of global distribution.
This is Vicor's second big distribution deal in just over six months. Last June, the power firm appointed Future Electronics as a global distributor.
“We expect that Digi-Key’s expansive market reach will enable Vicor to expand our global footprint, while increasing our presence and revenue in critical growth markets worldwide,” said Begen.
“The distribution channel is a critical element in Vicor’s go-to-market strategy,” Philip Davies, v-p of sales and marketing at Vicor told Electronics Weekly last year.
A distribution strategy is important because of the scale of Vicor's product line which includes tens of thousands of standard and customised power converters and power management products.
