Renesas and Green Hills support multiple OS in real-time control

Renesas Electronics and Green Hills Software are collaborating on the development of software to support CPU virtualisation technology suitable for real-time control applications.

The intention is to support the running of multiple applications simultaneously on a single CPU.

Software support for high-speed real-time control will be incorporated into the design platform for Renesas microcontrollers based on its V850 CPU core.

Green Hills Software
will port its Multi integrated development environment (IDE) to the MCUs.

The IDE will generate instruction code optimised for the Renesas CPU virtualisation technology.

When multiple operating systems run on a CPU core without mutual interference, it allows for composite control of real-time systems in ndustrial machinery and automotive systems.

The software development environment will be available through Green Hills Software as part of the Multi product family.
