German firm makes investment in UK supply chain

Binder, a German connector company, has formed a UK subsidiary based in Hemel Hempstead.

This is an encouraging investment in the UK component supply chain in the current economic climate and it follows the creation of subsidiaries in China, the US and France.

According to David Phillips, the new UK MD, the new company will work alongside the existing distribution channel incorporating Quadrant Connections, RS Components and Farnell.

“In terms of both market size and performance the UK is second only to Germany for Binder products in the EU, but sales represent only 5% of Germany and therefore there is significant opportunity for growth,” said Phillips, who was formerly UK sales and marketing director at Binder’s distributor, Quadrant Connections.

Binder is a family owned group of companies, based in Neckarsulm, with a turnover of €117m employing 1149 people. Its products range from small sensor connectors up to 24-contact connectors.
