Nanobamas - Putting the Obama into carbon nanotubes

Steve Bush
Tuesday 18 November 2008 17:31

Nanobamas are 0.5mm portraits of Barack Obama, each made of approximately 150 million carbon nanotubes by Professor John Hart of the University of Michigan.

"Developments like this are an excellent way to bring the concepts of nanotechnology to a broader audience," said Hart, who made the portraits with his colleagues by working late on a Friday evening. "Also, we thought it would be fun."

The nanobamas were grown on a silicon wafer patterned by UV lithography.
