Ericsson has announced the increase of its R&D activities in Turkey by increasing the size of its IC design centre with 45 engineers.
This is indicative of the growing importance of Turkish electronics market and the engineering resources in the country.
“Ericsson Turkey focuses on development of its telecommunications market. R&D plays a key role in our path to reach this target," said Ericsson Turkey general manager Ozgur Tohumcu.
The IC design centre, established in 1996, operates under the thge name of Ericsson Microelectronics Design Centre (EMDC). Its focus is Asic and FPGA development for automotive, industry, audio and data communication and recently on wireless devices.
It has more than 15 completed chip designs in 55nm, 45nm, 40nm CMOS process technologies.
