DAB radio technology firm, Frontier Silicon has strengthened its plans for mobile TV by teaming with Swedish T-DMB infrastructure specialist Factum Electronics.
The aim of the partnership is to offer broadcasters technology for both mobile TV and digital radio. A target market for both firms is China which has plans to roll out first mobile TV services this year.
“We recognise Factum Electronics as a key player in delivering DAB and T-DMB solutions to the broadcast industry, demonstrated by its strong position in providing infrastructure to the Korean T-DMB market,” commented Anthony Sethill, CEO Frontier Silicon.
While the Swedish firm specialises in head-end infrastructure and its customers include the BBC, Samsung and Radio Beijing, Frontier Silicon designs and manufactures the digital receiver ICs and modules.
The hope is that by working together the firms will strengthen their hand as broadcasters adopt new T-DMB/DAB digital broadcast technologies for radio and mobile TV.
According to Kenneth Lundgren, managing director of Factum Electronics: “By combining efforts, we will effectively supply broadcasters world-wide with state-of-the-art digital broadcasting systems”.
