TI offers voltage regulator with 1 per cent accuracy

Monday 19 June 2006 17:40

Texas Instruments has introduced a series of 1.5A and 3A low dropout linear regulators (LDOs) that feature a one per cent voltage regulation accuracy rate over line, load and temperature.

According to TI, these devices are stable with any or no output capacitor and support input voltages as low as 0.9 V. The external bias permits low input voltage operation with top-rated transient response while providing a high power supply rejection ratio (PSRR).

The track input allows user-programmed sequencing to minimize the voltage difference among supply rails during start-up. The enable input (EN) and power-good (PG) outputs allow easy sequential sequencing with external regulators, said the supplier.

As a result, the TPS74xxx family can yield dropout voltages as low as 115mV at 3A over the entire input voltage range. They also offer an adjustable output range of 0.8V to 3.3V.
